A cross-platform web and mobile project designed to integrate an AI assistant into the Milano Finanza and Italia Oggi ecosystem.

My role

I worked as project manager and assistant to the product manager at Gruppo Class. My focus was on ensuring smooth coordination between design, development, and business teams, while aligning delivery with tight time-to-market goals.

Context and goals

The project was initiated to enhance the digital experience of Milano Finanza and Italia Oggi readers by introducing an AI-driven assistant. The aim was to provide personalized answers, reliable sourcing from trusted editorial content, and a subscription-based model that balanced accessibility with monetization.

  • Deliver an MVP quickly to validate user adoption.
  • Ensure seamless login across editorial platforms with Single Sign-On.
  • Design a mobile-first interface, as most traffic was expected from smartphones.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination: Led cross-functional meetings, aligning developers, designers, and legal advisors.
  • Requirements gathering: Consolidated business objectives into actionable product requirements (e.g., credit-based subscription system, disclaimer integration).
  • Design leadership: Reviewed wireframes, provided feedback on UI/UX decisions, and ensured consistency across mobile and desktop.
  • Stakeholder communication: Acted as the bridge between Gruppo Class leadership, technical partners, and the design team.
  • Testing oversight: Monitored iterative releases to validate usability, API integration, and credit system behavior.

Key features delivered

  • Credit-based subscriptions with tiered plans and monthly resets.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) between Milano Finanza, Italia Oggi, and the MF GPT assistant.
  • Source handling with pill-based links, modal previews, and AI-generated summaries.
  • Prompt suggestions tailored to hot topics and standard queries.
  • Mobile-first design with responsive layouts, carousels for prompts, and smooth navigation.
  • User feedback tools such as thumbs up/down and retry options.
  • Export options for responses and charts in PDF format, with official document signatures.

Outcomes

The first milestone MVP was released within the planned timeline, enabling users to start conversations, view reliable sources, and test the credit-based model. This validated both technical feasibility and user interest, paving the way for the full production launch. For Gruppo Class, the project created a new engagement channel within their editorial ecosystem, opening opportunities for upselling premium subscriptions and strengthening user retention.

Personal note

This project taught me the importance of balancing speed and depth. We had to prioritize simplicity to meet deadlines, while designing a structure flexible enough to grow later. Personally, I enjoyed acting as the central connector between teams—making sure legal, technical, and design perspectives all shaped a product that felt consistent and trustworthy for end users.
